Diagnostyka S.A. and Labplus Expand Access to Professional Test Results Interpretation
The largest medical laboratory network in Central and Eastern Europe continues to expand access to test results interpretation. Since October 25, 2024, patients ordering tests at Diagnostyka receive professional result interpretations via mobile app for an increasingly wide range of tests. This new Gold Standard in patient care is the result of our collaboration that began in October 2022.
From Pilot to Standard
“Digital transformation in laboratory diagnostics must focus on real patient needs. Result interpretation is not just about convenience—it’s a patient’s fundamental right to understand their health status,” says Dr. hab. med. Siddharth Agrawal, CEO of Labplus.
Initially, the service covered thyroid panels, and over 18 months expanded to cover three-quarters of all Diagnostyka’s laboratory orders. The system effectively triages patients: 2% require urgent medical attention, 16.5% are directed to prompt medical consultation, and the remainder receive detailed recommendations for further diagnostics or monitoring. In each case, patients receive clear and comprehensible explanations of their results along with personalized recommendations for next steps.
Meeting Patient Needs
Patient satisfaction surveys confirm the solution’s value:
- 68% stop searching for additional information about result meanings online after receiving the interpretation
- 73% express intention to purchase recommended tests
- 88% recommend the service to others
- 91% prefer laboratories offering professional result interpretation over those without such service
“After the tests, I wasn’t told anything specific, but I learned everything from this interpretation and everything is clear! Following these recommendations, I’ll do the laboratory tests and visit my NHS doctors whom I can access in reasonable time, and see the others privately”—this is one of many similar opinions from patients who have used Diagnostyka’s result interpretation service in recent months.
New Service Standard
The implementation of free result interpretation in the mobile app addresses real patient needs. The process is streamlined—patients download the Diagnostyka app to their phone, where they have constant access to test results. For each interpreted result, they can select the “Results Description” option and complete a brief medical questionnaire. This ensures the description received is personalized and adapted to their individual health context. It’s a practical example of how technological advancement in medicine can directly translate to improved patient care.
Future Plans
Currently, the interpretation system handles most routine laboratory tests, with development plans including further expansion to cover less common tests requested by patients themselves. In the near future, the ability to ask questions about received interpretations will be introduced, enabling free result consultations. This implementation demonstrates how collaboration between innovative technology companies and leading medical entities can tangibly improve patient experience in laboratory diagnostics.
